Retired father of three, grandfather of six, Jerry lives in Round Rock, Texas and cycles locally on little used country roads in Williamson and Travis Counties.

The centerpiece of the book is his nuts and bolts description of riding from San Francisco, California to Portsmouth, New Hampshire. His other journeys include scenic tourist areas like the Cascades, Glacier National Park, Southwest Utah, and Vermont. He also challenged himself to enjoy a week of riding the route of the Tour de France, culminating in climbing Le Col de Tourmalet. He downplays physical prowess and stresses enjoyment of the world around us.
