MORE
2009...
October - SENIOR GAMES TIME TRIAL CHAMPION OF TEXAS - Using E2E as my training regimen, I earned a gold medal in the 10km Time Trial and silver in the 5km Time Trial. My blog gives details.
September - LAND'S END TO JOHN O'GROATS (E2E). This was a major undertaking, three weeks and 1056 miles in length from the southwest corner of England to the northeast corner of Scotland. It should be the last chapter in my next book. Feel free to email questions and/or read my blog.
August 22 - Was in Leadville, Colorado along with a huge crowd, to see Lance ride the 100 mile mountain bike race. I was one of four authors doing a book-signing at the Book Mine bookstore that happened to be situated right at the corner of the Start/Finish line. The excitement electrified the throng.
August 8-9 - Texas State (USAC) Time Trial Championships. Read a summary on my blog, but bottom line is I came home with two silver medals, one in the Individual Time Trial and one in the team.
June 16-30 - Fabulous cycling in the Georgia mountains, including Brasstown Bald. Also hiked four days on the Appalachian Trail while there. Had a booksigning at Mountain Crossings which is located at Neel's Gap. The building itself is on the AT and hosts many hikers, but being at the top of an eight mile road climb, also is a rest stop for cyclists, both bicyclists and motorcyclists.
May 20-June 1 - Cycled in Wichita, Kansas; Omaha, Nebraska; Pierre, South Dakota; Medora, North Dakota; then cycled the Mickelson Trail. In Twin Lakes, Colorado my friend Byran and I sat on our bikes as we decended from Independence Pass. Details of my trip will be entered on my blog.
I am pleased to announce two additional book stores are now carrying Bicycle Journeys with Jerry: Western Edge Books in Medora, North Dakota and Book Mine in Leadville, Colorado. They are also shown on Purchase/Online/Brick and Mortar page. The Book Mine is also hosting "Meet-the-Author" in August for the Leadville 100.
April 14-16 - Presented to 14 classes of third, fourth, and fifth graders at Orchard Grove Elementary School in Frederick, Maryland. Many of these youngsters will be published at the end of the year. Also presented at the Brunswick, Md public library.
March 22 - Drove back to San Antonio and started the day with a gold medal in the 5km time trial, again taking 32 seconds off my best time. Needed more quality work, so entered the 40km race and came in a distant third. Very impressed with my new bike.
March 21 - With no break-in period, did a 10km time trial in San Antonio. Came in first and took over a minute off my best time. Followed that with a 20km race and managed a decent sprint at the end and came in first.
March 20 - Purchased a really fast Felt B2-Pro from Jack and Adams Bicycles in Austin. The emphasis is on tri-athletes, but they stock some great road bikes. The website says they specialize in customer service and they aren't exaggerating.
February 17-22- Rode around Lompoc, California, watched some of the Amgen Tour of California (and Lance, Levi, Ivan, Tyler, Fabian, Carlos, Floyd), and did a Meet-The-Author at the Book Loft in Solvang. Logistics at the Book Loft were a little sketchy, but it is right next to the Bull Dog, Coffee extraordinaire. Astana hung out there for awhile, as did Cancellera, and Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen.
WHAT HAVE I DONE?!
